Obama signs hate crimes bill into law

President Obama on Wednesday signed a law that makes it a federal crime to assault an individual because of his or her sexual orientation or gender identity.

This is huge, because it's a giant VISIBLE step from our national government that gays, lesbians, and transgender people are United States citizens and are not second class. They are deserving of civil rights and protection under the law, and Obama is willing to make some changes to fight for them.
